But it’s a bit of a rare piece of equipment, with few manufacturers willing to put the money into it.
And while Broadband Project Equipment Inc. is looking to buy the technology to help it keep its cables more resilient, it says it has yet to find a partner who will commit to the venture.
The company has also said it needs to develop a cost-effective alternative to the cable system equipment that it already uses to deliver its services.

Broadline project equipment was one of many projects the company participated in, and has also worked with companies like Google and NASA.
Broadly, though, has a different approach to its project equipment.
It plans to invest $10 million over the next few years to acquire and develop more advanced, high-quality project equipment and other equipment that will be more resistant to climate change, said Broadly president, Mike Gantt.
The Broadly project equipment comes from the company’s headquarters in Chicago.
The technology developed by Broadly is used to test and quantify the impact of climate changes on the electric grids, air quality and weather.
GantT said Broadply will also spend some of its $100 million in capital costs on new research and development.
That includes developing an “aerospace grade, high performance” system for the cable systems it operates in the U.S. and other parts of the world, Gantts plan states.
It also will buy additional equipment to improve the safety of the systems, including “a multi-layered, flexible, and low cost network stack,” Gant said.
“We are in the early stages of developing our plans to deploy this advanced technology on the network infrastructure of our customers and we are working closely with customers and regulators to ensure our system is safe and sound,” he said.
Broad Spectrum Networks, which owns Broadly and is owned by the same company that owns Broadband, has not responded to requests for comment.
The U.K.-based company said it is also in discussions with the Federal Communications Commission, but did not provide details on its plans.
The FCC is currently considering a proposal that would require broadband providers to provide more information about their network and how it is affected by climate change before they can sell the service.
It is also considering a rule that would mandate greater transparency about network failures.
The proposal has drawn criticism from some Republican senators, who have said it will hurt broadband investment in the long run.
Broadlawn Networks, the parent company of Broadly that also owns Broadspectrum Networks, did not respond to a request for comment, and Broadspectra Networks did not immediately respond to requests seeking comment.
Broadspecta Networks is not the only company trying to get involved with climate change-related research.
One company is looking into using a combination of satellite-based weather-tracking technology and existing infrastructure to monitor temperature and humidity across the U to measure the impact on human health.
That technology, called a “smart grid,” could be used to monitor weather patterns and other environmental effects, such as flooding, drought and flooding.
But that kind of infrastructure is expensive and slow to develop, and the technology has a long way to go before it could be commercially viable, said David Tashiro, the chief technology officer at Smart Grid Systems Inc., a provider of smart grid systems.
Smart Grid Networks was founded in 2007 by Tashirai and David Schindler, and was bought by Broad Spectrum in 2013.
Smart grid technology is currently used by more than 30 companies.
The companies are trying to partner with researchers around the world to develop their own technology, said Schindlers chief technology advisor, Matt O’Brien.
“The whole world needs to work together on this, and I think there’s a lot of great ideas,” O’Briensaid.
“But it will take some time to develop the right technologies to make it practical for the general public to have these systems in place.”
Broad Spectrum is the largest wireless company in the country, with about 1.5 million customers, and O’Connor said that he hopes to sell the company to someone who will work with him to build smart grid technology.
“Broad Spectrum Networks is a company that I’ve worked with for over 20 years, and have worked with on a variety of things,” OBrien said.
And in a world where climate change is an increasingly real threat, he said, it’s important to keep pushing ahead.
“You don’t want to go backwards in terms of getting there,” OConnor said.
For the first time in the company history, Broad Spectrum has launched a public service announcement, saying it will be launching a campaign to encourage
